Bomber pilot Cotten eyes rich kid Durbin (completing her transition into screen adulthood), but when she shows interest he backs off. She follows him to an aircraft plant and gets herself hired just to be near him. Things don't end up as the weepy Durbin would like when Cotten takes to the air, leaving her behind. She's not too sad to sing a few tunes, though, including "Say a Prayer for the Boys Over There" (Herb Magidson, Jimmy McHugh), which earned an Oscar nomination. Other songs were: "Begin the Beguine" (Cole Porter), "God Bless America" (Irving Berlin), "Kashmiri Love Song" (Lawrence Hope, Amy Woodforde-Finden), "The Seguidilla" from Bizet's "Carmen." leave a comment
