Hero At Large

Steve Nichols (John Ritter) is a down-on-his-luck actor paying the bills by making public appearances as the comic book hero "Captain Avenger." When Steve foils a holdup at the corner grocery, the city goes wild over the idea that there really is a Captain Avenger, prompting Steve to go back into the streets as the cartoon character. The film's interesting concept is marred by its many cliches, but Ritter is likable in the lead.
