Straightforward, energetic and updated Bard. Star-director-adapter Kenneth Branagh's spellbinding vision is filmed mostly in medium and close-up shots, and discards much of the pageantry of Laurence Olivier's grand 1944 spectacle. Branagh focuses instead on carnage and casualties, and Shakespeare's great history play becomes a powerful antiwar statement. Read the complete review for Henry V
