Holt and Graves are two Americans in the French Foreign Legion who love the same girl, Sebastian. Graves informs Holt that he's going to marry her, but Holt believes he's the better man and the two argue back and forth. During a battle, Holt is wounded, and he believes that Graves shot
him. It was actually their sergeant who shot him, and when he refuses to help carry Holt to the ambulance, Graves punches him out. For this Graves is sent to Devil's Island and Sebastian, wanting to be with him, convinces Holt to marry her and become a guard at the island prison. There Holt
