From Hell To Heaven

Derivative of GRAND HOTEL, this racetrack film relates the many stories of the gamblers, horse owners, and racing enthusiasts who gather at the Luray Springs Hotel to await the Capitol Handicap. Center stage, however, is Colly Tanner (Carole Lombard), a pretty handicapper who needs $10,000 to bet on a sure thing and gets it from an old flame, Cuff Billings (Sidney Blackmer), on the condition that if her horse loses she give herself to him. Her horse, Sir Rapid, comes in third, but Cuff proves to be an honorable man, leading to a surprising romantic finale.
