Mildly intriguing yarn revolving around the efforts of an energetic woman (Judy Davis) to stop a redevelopment project. Her gripe is that an entire neighborhood would be destroyed in order to line the pockets of some shady characters. She digs up some interesting coincidences and enjoys a
slight romance with the architect of the project. The emphasis on atmosphere and the excellent soundtrack ultimately can't compensate for the script's failure to provide a convincing plot or characters. Directed by Australian Phillip Noyce, who later garnered international attention with DEAD
CALM.
