Unfortunately for Dick Powell, he was requested for this role by Marion Davies, who wanted no one else for the part. She plays a Baltimore girl who gets romantically involved with Napoleon's brother, Powell. Claude Rains does his best as the French leader, coming across more believably
than the rest. Beulah Bondi also appears in a bit. It's all very strained and supplies proof that wigs should not be worn by men, especially Powell. Produced by Cosmopolitan, the company owned by Davies' creator, newspaper mogul William Randolph Hearst. A remake of GLORIOUS BETSY (1928).
