Neil Simon's comedy, based on the Bruce Jay Friedman story, is a film you'll either find funny or disgusting. It's been broadly directed by May and concerns a Jewish bridegroom dumping whiny princess wife Berlin (May's real life daughter) to pursue WASP Shepherd. Although engagingly
played, the film cannot find a voice or climax. What is this exercise in self-loathing all about? Are all Jewish women irritating? Are all WASPS cold featherbrains? HEARTBREAK doesn't end; it just runs out of steam.
