As NASCAR continues its ascent in popularity, there's no time like the present to catch up with this insightful bio of drag-racing champ Shirley "Cha-Cha" Muldowney (Bonnie Bedelia), who became the first woman to race with the National Racing Association and the first driver — period — to win three world titles. The film is marred somewhat by a lackluster narrative, but the underrated Bedelia gives a beautifully nuanced performance as a true American sports legend.
