Pleasence is a cruel man who beats up his young son (Williams) and threatens to sell the boy's beloved St. Bernard dog to the local butcher. Williams sells his dog to an amiable veterinarian, but when Pleasence finds out, he beats the boy again. The dog, with the help of spinster
Anderson, rescues Williams after he is trapped in a snowstorm. Anderson marries the vet, and Pleasence finally gives in to the boy, allowing him to keep the dog. A heavy-handed drama and not particularly entertaining.
