The only excuse for this terrible film is self-indulgence. It allows director-writer Davis a chance to express some of his trite philosophical meanderings. Even by 1978 these ideals seemed old-fashioned and not worth wasting energy or time considering. The plot concerns a New York hippy's
excursion among Mennonites in Pennsylvania. He undergoes monumental changes while living with these people of different ideals--and so do the Christians--all too blandly predictable. It's hard to imagine what attracted Page to this project. Her talents are wasted, as are those of the other
performers, in roles so shallow they hardly represent human experience, let alone spiritual.
