Baur and Dorziat are a husband and wife who share a passionate dislike for each other, in a film which is more interested in characters than plot. Dorziat raises her children to be as equally unreceptive as she to Baur, especially after he is accused of smuggling arms. Brother of director Jean Renoir has a supporting part here.
