Harper: Review

William Goldman's script, based on Ross MacDonald's classic Lew Archer novel The Moving Target, is sharply plotted and full of rapid-fire dialogue, but hte real reason to see it is Paul Newman. He plays Lew Harper (Newman was superstitious about character's names beginning with "H"), a down-on-his-luck Los Angeles private eye who's hired by the cynical Mrs. Sampson (Lauren Bacall) to track down her missing and very wealthy husband.
