1985, Movie, NR, 113 mins

This film doesn't have much except an idea that could have been better written, developed, and directed. Kinski is a promiscuous stockbroker trainee who is kidnaped by envoys of wealthy Arab prince Kingsley. Though he has a harem brimming with beautiful girls, Kingsley has yet to enjoy any of them sexually and orders Kinski kidnaped to provide romantic stimulation to an otherwise mundane existence. Nothing really works here, with only the opening scenes providing some intrigue. Kinski, beyond her beauty, is but a wide-eyed specter of Kingsley's very limited imagination, and Kingsley himself is too passive to effectively portray a passionate prince of the desert. Arthur Joffe's direction suffers mostly because of the almost invisible story and poor development of characters. leave a comment
