Cry For Happy

1961, Movie, NR, 110 mins

A pleasant, funny flick about four Navy men who unknowingly hole up in a geisha establishment. Enjoying the good life with the gals, they have to disguise the joint as an orphanage for the nosey upper crust. Ford and O'Connor hold up well, but unfortunately the gorgeous geishas seem to have been cast only on the basis of their authentic looks and names. They don't falter, but it seems that no effort was put into developing anything but a stereotyped character. Ted Knight can be spotted in a bit part. Remake of 1956 TEAHOUSE OF THE AUGUST MOON, also with Glenn Ford. leave a comment
