This sometimes-interesting crime comedy-drama features Raft in one of his best roles. He's asked to act in this one, not just flip coins or look tough or dance and, under Del Ruth's direction, he turns in a good performance. Raft and Carrillo are Italian immigrants who come to the US in search of their destinies. Raft gets a job digging ditches and does well.
