This version of Shakespeare's play was filmed in a murky, mysterious process known as Electronovision, with no fewer than 15 cameras simultaneously recording a single live performance directed for the Broadway stage by John Gielgud and starring an energetic Richard Burton as the Prince of Denmark. At 199 minutes, it is probably the only film of Shakespeare's masterwork not to cut out vast sections of the text. The cast is superb. Originally this film was intended to be released for two days only, on a reserved-seat basis. leave a comment
