An intense western drama finds Cotten as the son of all-ruling patriarch and sheriff Bond, who is involved in a series of injustices which disgust his son. Cotten leaves but again returns home, only to be outraged once more when his father refuses to stop a lynch mob from killing the half-breed lover of his sister (Blair).
