The Halliday Brand

An intense western drama finds Cotten as the son of all-ruling patriarch and sheriff Bond, who is involved in a series of injustices which disgust his son. Cotten leaves but again returns home, only to be outraged once more when his father refuses to stop a lynch mob from killing the half-breed lover of his sister (Blair). When Cotten rebels, he is branded an outlaw by his father. Told in flashback, the film reveals an enormous sense of emotion within each character: the father's loyalty to the family name (from whence comes the film's title); the son's desire for justice; Blair as Bond's daughter, who disapproves but is blindly loyal to her father.
