In a reversal of a cliche, phony homesteaders plant themselves on the ranch of an ex-ranger. He's driven off and an unscrupulous newspaper publisher, along with a gambler, plan to take over the ranch. But good guy Starrett comes to his old friend's aid and, with the help of other rangers, drives off the evil homesteaders, while the newsman and gambler end up shooting each other.
