Hail, Hero!

Talky, uninspired attempt to bring 60s-style "relevance" to the screen. Douglas plays Carl Dixon, a remarkably straight-looking hippie, who returns to the home of his parents (Arthur Kennedy and Teresa Wright) and announces that he's dropped out of college to enlist in the Army. This comes as a surprise to Mom and Dad, since peacenik Carl had previously been arrested for failing to register for the draft. The boy explains that he's still a pacifist and intends to love the North Vietnamese enemy.
