This delightful, tear-jerking fantasy — remade by Steven Spielberg as Always — was one of the most popular movies during WW II. Spencer Tracy stars as a daredevil bomber pilot who, after being killed in a crash, returns to Earth as the guardian angel for a new pilot (Ben Johnson).
