This typical Disney sports film might have been called "The Mule That Saved Los Angeles." In it a Yugoslavian quadruped answers the prayers of Asner, owner of the California Atoms, a truly abysmal football team. When Gus the mule appears on the scene and begins kicking long-range field goals, the Atoms' fortunes turn around. Predictable but pleasant fluff, GUS offers Knotts as the head coach and Bosley and Conway as the bad guys who are trying to derail the Atoms. NFL Hall of Famers Unitas and Butkus, and sportscaster Enberg, also appear. leave a comment
