Fairly decent adaptation of the television series "Peter Gunn" which enjoyed three years of success in the early 1960s. Stevens recreates his TV role for the big screen in this episodic adventure. He investigates the murder of a criminal kingpin. Paulsen, pretender to the throne, is the
suspect, and Marshall is a madame who wants Stevens to prove him guilty. Bullets fly, a bomb explodes, and O'Malley, an alcoholic bum helping out with the investigation, is poisoned before Stevens arrives at the mystery's surprising conclusion. The madame is behind the murder and is a transvestite
who had hoped to frame Paulsen.
