Arness, along with partners Wilke and Megowan, stage a robbery but when he's wounded his buddies run out on him, as does girl friend Dickinson. After a year in the pen, he finds his two ex-comrades living in a small border town, but rather than gun down the pair, he plays a waiting game and tries to trap them so they too can have a taste of prison life.
