A Scotland Yard murder mystery in which four people confess to the same crime. Walker, on the day before his retirement, is assigned to investigate the murder of an Italian count. Three people, Stewart, Lyon, and Shiner, come forward and confess to the murder. Stewart's daughter, Cellier, was married to the Count, and was mistreated by him.
