Brazzi is a young Italian doctor in 1889. He meets Andre, the daughter of Tofano, a prominent medical professor who disapproves of their romance and talks Brazzi into leaving Rome. Brazzi leaves for Obetello, where he stumbles onto a radical, though highly effective, treatment for malaria. Lissiak is his sexually frustrated neighbor who blames him for the malaria epidemic after he ignores her advances. He goes on trial and is sentenced for using unorthodox methods. His punishment is four years behind bars, and he is no longer allowed to practice medicine. In prison, Brazzi becomes an orderly, inoculating himself against malaria with his own methods. He proves himself innocent and is released to resume his career and marry Andre. leave a comment
