Brazzi is a young Italian doctor in 1889. He meets Andre, the daughter of Tofano, a prominent medical professor who disapproves of their romance and talks Brazzi into leaving Rome. Brazzi leaves for Obetello, where he stumbles onto a radical, though highly effective, treatment for malaria.
