The latest vehicle for the perennially bankable team of Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau is virtually indistinguishable from their 1993 success, GRUMPY OLD MEN. As before, the stars play crotchety, ceaselessly bickering neighbors in a small Midwestern town. There's a plot -- Sophia Loren shows up as a fetching widow who intends to convert the local bait shop into an Italian restaurant -- but it doesn't matter much. The whole point is to reproduce the experience of the first movie (and every other Lemmon-Matthau pairing) with mechanical precision. And so it does. leave a comment
