Brennan is a crusty, old-fashioned farmer trying to raise his four children without a mother. Through his stubbornness, he has ruined one farm and is well on the way to ruining another. While turning away all help and shunning modern methods, he tries to break up his eldest daughter's
romance and to prevent little Wood from joining the local 4-H and raising sweet little lambs. But lo and behold, Brennan is laid up and Chapman must take over running the farm. With her in charge, everything starts running smoothly, Brennan's hard edges melt, and by film's end they're all one big
happy farm family. Ho-hum yokel hokum.
