This lightweight comedy concerns a group of brandy smugglers along England's southern shore who function under the protection of an ancient charter. When the authorities catch on, they try to find enough evidence to haul the perpetrators in. Eventually, a shipload of brandy reaches the
port, but the townspeople drink it up before the authorities discover it. An entertaining picture, produced by a group of film technicians who had nothing but troubles when it came to distributing the film, which suffered by comparison with similar, but earlier, Ealing Studios comedies.
