Another look at what happened to Custer and his troopers at the Battle of Little Big Horn. This time the story is told through the eyes of two of Custer's officers, Cotten and McGavin. Custer (Carey) is an outspoken believer in fair treatment for the Indians and goes so far as to accuse
powerful Washington politicians of corruption in their dealings with them. For this, Carey is ousted from his post and forced into retirement. He is then approached by Haggerty, a senator who convinces the former general to run for president. Ambition takes over and Carey decides to upstage Gen.
Terry (Ferguson) at Little Big Horn.
