Guilt-ridden marshal Douglas (he believes he is responsible for his father's death) saves accused killer Brennan from a lynch mob, and the pair set out across the desert to the nearest town in hopes of a fair trial. Brennan is found guilty, but before the sentence can be carried out, Douglas pins the murder on mob leader Anderson.
