This exciting mystery was raised from its B-production level by a solid cast and a fascinating portrayal by the moody Heflin, who plays a private eye investigating the killing of a beautiful actress, Dane. Although she is found dead early on in a train car parked inside the bowels of Grand
Central Station, Dane is seen throughout in a series of clever flashbacks which occur when police inspector Levene--in a role he had essayed many times--questions a variety of colorful suspects, including Heflin himself. The story is well written and Simon's direction wastes no frames in
unraveling the puzzle and revealing the killer.
