Grand Canyon

1949, Movie, NR, 64 mins

starstarstarstar
Misfired parody of the western genre shot on location in the Grand Canyon. The story details a movie crew's efforts to shoot a sagebrush epic in the Canyon. The star of the movie, Millican, breaks his leg and is replaced by local mule-caretaker Arlen. Most of the comedy arises from the efforts of director Hadley and leading lady Hughes to teach novice Arlen the art of movie thesping. An okay comedy, but it could have been much funnier. leave a comment

And this fall he's in Kidnapped, an NBC drama about an abducted kid and the unorthodox, don't-involve-the-Feds tracker (Sisto) enlisted to find him. TVGuide.com chatted up the actor about tackling such nightmare scenarios. TVGuide.com: In reviewing your résumé, I don't really see much that is inherently uninteresting. I recently saw and loved the ...

Question: I recently saw and loved the movie Crash, and was especially intrigued by the way all the stories intersected and converged. Could you possibly give me a list of some other films whose stories are structured in the same way? Answer: I certainly can: First, for the benefit of readers who haven't seen Crash (2005), its structure is one in which multiple narratives are developed simultaneously and overlay or intersect at key points before converging at the end. Unlike ensemble movies in which there's a main plot and a series of subplots, films like this give more or less equal weight to all the story strands and derive a significant part of their thematic power from the apparently random way in which different characters' destinies come together. To my mind, the greatest of all multiple-story narratives is read more
