GOODFELLAS

Much as he did in Raging Bull, Martin Scorsese delves into the lives of people you don't even want to know. Yet like Raging Bull, this film offers a fascinating vision of America and American lives. Based on the career of low-level gangster Henry Hill (played here with uncommon gusto by Ray Liotta), it's at once an extremely personal film and one so in tune with its characters and setting that it has the comic yet horrifying impact of an epic documentary.
