Heywood stars as a 35-year-old schoolteacher (a bit unconvincing; she was 47 at the time) whose first sexual experience is a rape by a black janitor. Doctors Pleasence and Vaughn try to help her through the trauma, but the result is nothing more than a clinician's viewpoint without any sort of emotional basis. The only worthwhile part of the film is Jocelyn Brando's reference to brother Marlon's role in A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE (1951). A normally fine cast is utterly wasted in this pile of racist garbage, which is only further marred by Chomsky's grotesque television style. Not surprisingly, the film never found a distributor, was peddled by the producers, and ended up being known as THE SIN in order to reach a less discriminating market. leave a comment
