Decent Norris action picture casts the martial arts master as a Viet Nam vet turned schoolteacher, whose military past is under investigation. The last mission of his unit was a CIA operation in which most of the men were left behind in the jungles waiting for a rescue chopper that never arrived. Investigation suggests that perhaps the soldiers were not meant to survive and that he and his men may have been set up by the government. Norris becomes obsessed with finding out what really happened and soon discovers that the remaining members of his unit are being systematically killed. He is aided by a small group of investigators (Archer, Haynes, and Andrews), who join forces to help him solve the mystery. Eventually the bloody trail leads to corrupt politician Franciscus, who Norris discovers sold him and his men out. In an unbelievable action scene Norris kicks through the front windshield of a speeding car and comes out without a scratch. Followed by the sequel A FORCE OF ONE (1979). leave a comment
