This melodramatic gangster tale opens with Clarke telling her mobster boy friend, Ellis, that she's dumping him for true love. The other man is rich boy Hall, who marries Clarke, knowing nothing of her sordid past. After the wedding and a baby, former lover Ellis busts out of prison and comes seeking revenge for Clarke's assumed betrayal of him.
