Tony-nominated actor Amy Ryan's first love may be the theater, but she's reached a bigger audience — and gained wider acclaim, including a richly deserved Oscar nomination — for her role as the grieving mother of a child who's been kidnapped in the 2007 film Gone Baby Gone. Among numerous TV roles, she's also impressed as The Wire's "Beadie" Russell, an iron-willed Port of Baltimore police officer who was the woman to finally put a leash on notorious tomcat Jimmy McNulty — until the current season. We caught up with Ryan on the eve of the DVD release of Gone Baby Gone, which is slated for today.

Casey Affleck, Ed Harris, Morgan Freeman, and Michelle Monaghan were wonderful to watch, and they're joined by a number of recognizable supporting cast members.We often see one or two exclusive features for the Blu-ray release, but this disc has the same material as the DVD, with an obvious upgrade to the audio and video. The vampire flick 30 Days of Night this weekend topped the box office with an estimated gross of $16 million. That was enough to unseat the previous champ, Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married? ($12 mil). Rounding out the top five were The Game Plan ($8.1 mil), Michael Clayton ($7.1 mil) and — currently in a dead heat for fifth-place honors — Team Affleck's Gone Baby Gone and the sports spoof The Comebacks, each of which is hovering around $6 mil.
