A family living on an isolated island in British Columbia is visited by a rare golden seal, which comes there every seven years to bear young. The seal and 10-year-old Eric (Torquil Campbell) become fast friends, and the boy helps save her from bounty hunters. The friendship between seal and child is convincing and touching. This is a fine family drama with lush photography, though the pace of direction is too slow. leave a comment
