In San Francisco's Chinatown, the daughter of a stern shopkeeper disobeys her parents and goes to the Chinese opera. With the help of her father's salesman, Nom, she sneaks into a club and meets the opera's star. They fall in love and marry, much to the wrath of Quan. He stops speaking to
