Vietnam veteran Moriarty and his buddy, Lower East Side kid Devane, visit Kennedy, Moriarty's father, on their return from the conflict in which the son--to his shame--has been forced to kill a Vietnamese woman. Moriarty invites psychopathic killer sergeant Ryan, to come and meet the
jingoistic Kennedy, who delights in his memories of WW II. The intended confrontation therapy fails, at least at the outset: the father retains his misguided ideals despite his humiliation by the sadistic sergeant. Devane attempts to hunt down his cuckolding wife and, unsuccessful, returns to
dad's farm with Swope--daughter of actress Dorothy McGuire in real life--a Canadian peace-work...
