The Glass Slipper

1955, Movie, NR, 93 mins

This re-telling of the Cinderella story adds a few new twists. Caron, in the lead, is far less attractive than her two evil stepsisters until she is transformed into a beauty by the film's end. Winwood is the fairy godmother who really doesn't work any magic. She's more of an eccentric old woman who lives in the forest and inspires Caron. The best thing about THE GLASS SLIPPER is its three well-staged ballets (though Wilding is inept as a dancer). The theme song, "Take My Love," is by Helen Deutsch and Bronislau Kaper. leave a comment
