Maude is the crusty duke who secludes himself on an all-male estate after his son runs off with a foreign dancer. He receives a letter and a picture of a young man named Pat (Haas). "Pat" is actually "Patricia" and the predictable situations and laughs occur. The duke's secretary wouldn't dare bring a woman to his boss, but Haas shows up at the estate anyway and poses as the duke's grandson. Thinking he/she's too skinny, grandpa puts Haas on a strict exercise program under the tutelage of the steward of the estate. Only after rescuing her in a swimming crisis (she went in nude) does the steward find out the secret. Of course, they fall in love. Grandpa is none too happy but eventually laughs it off. Another fun-producer for the British public by French-born director Marcel Varnel. leave a comment
