This dull--even by Troma standards--haunted-house epic employs the done-to-death TEN LITTLE INDIANS formula, by which a houseful of characters disappear one by one. When it is learned that a recently deceased millionaire has left his estate to a local Philadelphia girls' college, an instructor and seven of her most trusted students are dispatched to the mansion to catalog the estate. The place is filled with valuable old statues and other priceless works of art, and the group spends much of the day taking inventory. That evening the instructor falls ill, and the girls take the opportunity to roam the dark hallways of the mansion. Of course, as the evening progresses, they disappear one by one, murdered. As it turns out, one of the survivors (O'Mara) is the reincarnation of the dead millionaire's niece, who was killed in the mansion in 1939 when she spurned the advances of her amorous uncle. Her spirit has come back seeking revenge. Terribly tedious, GIRLS SCHOOL SCREAMERS offers nothing in the way of chills--and, in fact, offers little in the area of basic technical competence. Slapdash direction, production values, and performances are the order of the day here, but even these could be overcome if the script had an inkling of creative energy. Unfortunately the script is the film's most major flaw, and its lameness permeates the rest of the movie. leave a comment
