Matthews, a delivery girl for a dressmaker, is sent to drop off some costumes at a local theater. There, she meets a female impersonator who has contracted laryngitis, and he gets her to take his place on stage. She's a success and begins touring Europe masquerading as a man, with Hale as her manager.
