Made the year after Davis scored her first major starring success in her triumphal role in OF HUMAN BONDAGE (1934), this film was something of a letdown. Hunter, a society attorney of questionable character, has been dumped by his fiancee, Alexander, who marries another man, Clive. By way of recompense for the desertion, Hunter gets blind drunk.
