A musical comedy featuring an inferior comedy team, Brown and Carney, playing a couple of vaudevillians stranded in California during the 1849 gold rush. They decide to do some prospecting on their own and stumble into the womanless town of Red Creek, where they are promised sacks of gold dust if they find some women. The pair do, by bringing a revue into town, and strike gold with the idea. Songs included "Annabella's Bustle," "Rainbow Valley," "If Mother Could Only See Us Now," "Walking Arm in Arm with Jim" (Harry Harris, Lew Pollack). Sleepy-eyed screen newcomer Mitchum won critical raves for his "likable" personality, beginning his long relationship with RKO. leave a comment
