This film re-creates the sensational 1906 murder of Stanford White, famous architect, by Harry K. Thaw, infamous crackpot, on the Winter Garden roof in front of hundreds of theatergoers. Milland (as White) is shown as a dirty old man lusting after Collins, who plays showgirl Evelyn Nesbit, the wife of Thaw (Granger).
