Set in Tokyo, Sturges's A GIRL NAMED TAMIKO seems a natural extension of his Japanese sympathies, which date to the murdered war hero in BAD DAY AT BLACK ROCK and the debt paid to Akiro Kurosawa in THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN.
